Wiggly came into the UK as a small pup, after doing six months quarantine he came to live at Black Beech. He trained up as a working gundog very easily. However, in his first season he was accidentally shot by a stray pellet which caused him such a fright that when trying to come back to me as quickly as possible he jumped what he thought was a stone wall. Unfortunately this wall was the parapet of a bridge, he fell over 10m into shallow water. I thought that he was dead but was amazed and relieved when he got up and staggered out of the river. Wiggly remained a soft mouthed, quite, obedient worker and affectionate companion for the rest of his life. Aged 8 he succumbed to severe arthritis brought on by this accident.
Wiggly had 35 outings to shows, from these he gained 31 1st placings. He was Reserve Best Dog to his kennel mate Am Ch Penrose Puntgunner Gamescout on many occasions.
Wiggly's outstanding quality was as a stud dog producing many fine
offspring including his daughter, seen with him in above photo, the
UK record holder Dutch Ch Penrose Amazing Grace.
He won the award for UK Top Chesapeake Sire 2006.
